Martin-Brown & Company was formed in 1949 and by the early
1950’s had offices in Epsom, Leatherhead, Surbiton, Cheam
and Fulham. In 1952 the Dorking office was opened and developed
in importance to an extent that the other offices were gradually
sold off. In the 70’s a satellite office at Shere was opened
and a substantial part of the business at that time was in residential
agency particularly dealing with houses in the picturesque villages
surrounding the two offices.
In 1979 a larger partnership was formed and the name modified
to Martin-Brown. Since then the main divisions – Residential
Agency, Commercial Agency, Management and Professional – have
developed and expanded until now Martin-Brown offer a comprehensive
and unrivalled range of professional services and marketing skills
in respect of property within Dorking and its surrounds.
The two Partners, Robert J Brown and David T Dodgson are both
Chartered Surveyors with many years experience of property matters
in the areas.
Robert J Brown FRICS MCIArb is the Managing Partner. Robert
joined the Partnership in 1979 having had 12 years private
practice experience in Reigate and 5 years in the Valuation
Departments of two London Boroughs. He has a wide knowledge
of valuation and landlord and tenant matters and has overall
responsibility for the firm’s administration and commercial/residential
property management. He is also an Arbitrator.
David T Dodgson MRICS IRRV joined the firm in 1992 and
became a Partner in 1994. David has wide experience and expertise
in commercial and residential property valuations and has
been extensively involved in the rating valuations/appeals
in respect of the 1990/1995/2000 revaluations. David is responsible
for commercial agency and is extensively involved in rent
reviews/lease renewals and rating appeals.
